Are We Alone? In the Universe, In Life, In Love?
For thousands of years, people have looked up at the night sky and asked the same question: are we alone?
Scientists point their telescopes at distant galaxies. Dreamers stare at the stars from their back gardens. We're still searching for a sign that there's someone out there.
But lately I've been wondering about a different question, a much smaller one, and maybe a much more important one.
Why do so many people feel alone when there are billions of people around them?

The Loneliest Place Is a Crowded Room
You probably know this feeling. You're at a birthday party, a busy café, a packed train, a work event. Laughter everywhere, conversations all around you. And somewhere in the middle of it, there's a quiet voice: I'm here, but nobody really sees me.
You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone.
I know this feeling well. Growing up, I often felt different. I was fascinated by the big questions: why are we here, what is consciousness, is reality bigger than we've been taught? Those questions didn't always fit into small talk. At times, I felt deeply alone, even when I wasn't on my own.
What We're All Really Longing For
Over the years I built businesses and communities, worked in media, wrote books, and met thousands of people. And I noticed that underneath the different jobs, ages and stories, almost everyone was longing for the same thing.
Not a perfect profile or a clever opening line. Not another evening of swiping.
We long to be seen. To be understood without having to explain ourselves. To meet someone and feel, within minutes, oh, you get it.
That's rarer than it should be. We've never been more connected, and yet so many of us are lonely, especially in love. We show the polished version of ourselves and hope someone likes it, when real connection only begins when we feel safe enough to be ourselves.
So What If You're Not Alone?
Here's what I believe: you are not the only one who feels this way. There are people out there who are just as curious, just as tired of superficial dating, just as open to something deeper. They're sitting in the same crowded rooms, wondering the same thing about you.
They just haven't been given the right place to find each other.
If we aren't alone in the universe, then maybe we aren't alone in love either.
An Invitation for Valentine's Day
That's why I created YOU'RE NOT ALONE – The Conscious Singles Experience.
On Sunday, 14 February 2027, 90 conscious singles, 45 men and 45 women, will come together at The Werftheater in Utrecht for a full day of connection, curiosity and discovery. It's not speed dating, and it's not your average singles event. It's part theatrical experience, part conscious dating experience, and part personal journey, with space to meet someone you never would have crossed paths with otherwise.
You don't need to bring anyone. You just have to come.
Come alone. Come curious. Come exactly as you are.
